The NOVACT Association is part of the Urban Communality of Nou Barris, which has as a territory of intervention and dynamization the central-north area of the Nou Barris District of Barcelona, specifically the neighborhoods of Roquetes and Verdum. The Communality aims to respond to the following needs detected in the territory:

  • The need to strengthen and strengthen local trade as a motor of the economy in the District, promoting attractive services for new shops and generating services for improving care and quality, such as by creating ESS initiatives for the distribution of products and food from the proximity.
  • The need to innovate and generate new synergies around mutual support initiatives and/or healthcare projects aimed at the distribution of food among vulnerable families.
  • The need to generate income from savings in energy consumption from an energy transition perspective
  • The need to propose care strategies, in a territory with a high rate of aging and child population without schooling during stage 0-3.
  • The need to address the digital divide in a broad sense, addressing digital literacy as access to the network (taking into account the socioeconomic profile of the population and the possible generation of collective infrastructures)
  • The need to respond to the needs of the communities of neighbors of the territory, with the provision of joint services (cleaning, maintenance, etc.)

From REC, we focus on responding to this need, although we work to become a tool that can generate territorial cohesion in a transversal way.
